I love you.
But...I don't want to be your everything.

I don't want you to be afraid of losing me.
I don't want you to be passive aggressive.
I don't need to know everything you're thinking of.
I don't want you to need me every second of the hour―day― week―month or year.
I don't want you to need me to breathe.
I don't need to tap into the deepest part of your soul.
I don't want to consume your being.
I don't need to be your sun, your star, and your moon.
I don't need to be your whole Universe.
I have no need to embody your own  humanity.
That's not love, Baby.
I hope you know my love for you is enough
to be at peace with your own identity.
Your own personality to unfold.
Your own mental space to explore.
Your own world or demons to conquer.
Your own goals and dreams to reach.
Your own breath to breathe.

I love you.
I love you enough to know that you being you,
before I came along, is what will keep your love
for me for all eternity.

If you don't know this already,
you don't know how much I love you, Baby.

Dedicated to my son Alex.
